Prayer Requests

Prayer Request from Roger Simpson: Charles Adams saw his thoracic surgeon on Thursday of last week and an X-ray indicated there was no fluid build-up in his lungs. The report and visit with the doctor was encouraging. He was reminded of his susceptibility to infection and to exercise caution. Additional meds were prescribed to help with his coughing. He is to have a CT Scan and an MRI mid-week at Emory-Johns Creek followed by an appointment with his oncologist at Winship Cancer Institute at the main Emory hospital campus later in the week. This appointment is to review the scan and MRI results and should provide a treatment regimen and schedule for his immuno-therapy infusions. A message from Charles and Rose: “Would you also express our deep appreciation for all the cards, comforting words, phone calls, etc. that we have received from our class & JCBC family, and to especially continue prayers for days ahead. We do so miss everyone.” Charles and Rose Adams: 535 Kings Peak Drive, Alpharetta, Georgia 30022.

Prayer Request from Phil Brown: Dorothy (Dot) Pollock, a 95 year old homebound member of our church, has been hospitalized for sepsis and other medical problems. She is currently in a hospital in Winder, GA near where she lives with her daughter, Elise Laforgia. Elise and her sister Dorothy Cedars are with Dot – their sister Chrystin Pleasants, who lives in Texas, communicated this information on Dot to my brother David and said the family was very appreciative of prayers for their mother. Dot is a long time member of our church, who is a very proud WWII Marine veteran and proudly wore her uniform at patriotic days at the church over the years and most recently to her 95th birthday party – I know she would covet your prayers for herself and her family at this time.

Prayer Request from Mary White: Mary Martin’s son, Tony Martin, passed away this morning after suffering a long time with cancer. Mary is thankful that he is not in any more pain. She asks for your prayers during this very difficult time. Tony lived in Memphis, TN, and there are no pending arrangements at this time. Prayer Request from Cecelia Prator: To Friends and JCBC church family of Homebound member, Dot Waters. She is saddened by a move taking her further away from her church family both FBC & JCBC. Please find time to send her an encouraging word of continued love & support. She has now moved and her new address is: 1000 Professional Way Room 301, Woodstock, Georgia 30188.

Prayer Request from Leigh Anne Shields: B.J. Benton – His wife Beth will be having surgery on her neck again next Monday, August 8th, at Gwinnett Medical Center. The procedure done in October of last year has failed. The planned corrective procedure will be to make both an anterior and posterior approach to stabilize the cervical spine with new rods, screws, wire and bone grafts where needed between C2 and C7 levels. The surgeon told us yesterday that he has blocked out the whole day for the procedure, so it is a very involved and risky surgery. Please pray for steady hands for the surgical team, and for God’s protection over her during the surgery and recovery. We anticipate she will be in the hospital for 2-4 days depending on how well she responds. I’ll let you know whether she is up to any visitors later in the week after she makes it through the first 24 hours.
